The Real Guide to Botox®️:
Let’s talk Botox—because chances are, you’ve either thought about it, heard a friend rave about it, or you’re just plain curious. Whether you’re in your 20s hoping to stay ahead of the game, or in your 50s looking for a little “refresher,” this guide is for you.
So… What
Is
Botox®️, Really?

Botox®️ is the brand name for a type of botulinum toxin—a protein that, when injected in tiny amounts, relaxes targeted muscles. It’s most commonly used to soften dynamic wrinkles—those lines that form from repetitive facial expressions, like frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead creases.
Sounds a little scary? Totally understandable. But in the hands of a a regulated and experienced professional, it’s both safe and widely used—it’s our most popular treatment here at ND Enhance for both men & women!
Why People Get Botox®️ (and Why That’s Okay)
Let’s get something out of the way: wanting Botox doesn’t mean you’re vain or insecure. Maybe you’re tired of looking like you’re frowning when you’re not. Maybe you want to feel a bit fresher before a big event. Maybe you’re just curious. That’s all okay
People also use Botox®️ for:
Prevention (yes, early 30s Botox is a thing)
Jaw slimming
Sweating
Gummy smile
Downturned lips
Pebble chin
Neck lift
What to Expect: Your First Botox Appointment
Here’s how it usually goes:
Consultation: You’ll talk about your goals, facial movement, and any concerns. From the 1st June 2025 it is a legal requirement for all consultations for botulinum toxin to be face to face. https://www.nmc.org.uk/news/news-and-updates/nmc-to-update-position-on-remote-prescribing-of-non-surgical-cosmetic-medicines/
Treatment Plan: Your practitioner will mark the areas to treat and suggest how many units you might need (20-40 units is common for a basic forehead and glabella—between the brows—treatment).
Injection Time: The actual injecting part takes 10–15 minutes. Tiny pinches, but most people say it’s very tolerable. To reduce pain here at ND Enhance we use FMS micro needles (smaller than an insulin needle) and each needle is individually wrapped….. sterile, unlike other brands

The Big Questions Answered
“Will I look frozen?”
Only if you get too much—or go to someone who doesn’t understand facial anatomy. The goal is refined, not robotic.
“How long does it take to work?”
You’ll start noticing effects in 3–7 days, with full results in about 10–14 days.
“How long does it last?”
Typically 3–4 months, though some people metabolize it faster or slower.
“How much does it cost?”
At ND Enhance one area costs £130 with the most common choice of 3 areas at £230, should you need a tweak at the 2 week review appointment this is included in the initial cost
Things Nobody Tells You (But Should)
You might get a mild headache after, especially if it’s your first time.
One side of your face may “kick in” faster than the other—it balances out.
Botox doesn’t erase deep static lines, but it softens them—and prevents new ones.
If you hate it (rare, and we have never had anyone that dislikes it!), the effects wear off in a few months.
Tips for a Great Experience
Do your research. Not all injectors are equal. Look for someone who is medically trained and has experience with facial anatomy.
Ideally a prescriber who can deal with any complications (RARE) should they arise
Opt for injectors who are regulated. At ND Enhance we are saveface registered https://www.saveface.co.uk/
Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibrufen, St. John’s wort or fish oil for a day or two before your appointment to minimize bruising.
Ask questions! We Natalie welcomes them
